Hello,

I see some guys use invisible thread for rigging on ships. What is invisible thread and where can you get it?

Sewing notions department at the local WallyWorld, craft store, or the like.

Invisible thread is a very fine smoke-colored monofilament thread used in sewing.   It blends with nearly everything.   To use in modeling, take some off the spool, give it a little tug to straighten, then pull it across a black magic marker to give it some color.

Cement with CA.

Does it work about the same as fishing line (monofilament) or is it better?

Pretty much.  And if you go to a well stocked quilting store (my lovely wife's hobby) there are normally several different colors, so you won't need to use a marker unless you want to for weathering or for a specific effect.
