Anyone build the Revell Hermann Marwede SAR 1/72?

No recent threads on this ship. I was thinking of getting it.

also who is the Eduard distributor in the US, if anyone knows. Although the P/E is very expensive for this ship.

Thoughts anyone?

Have the Marwede in my stash. Haven't got around to building it yet so can't say much about the fit etc. Nice crisp molding, good detail OOB but a PE set would do it justice. Price very reasonable for what you get.

cheers,

Julian

WILBUR , HI , the HERMANN MARWEDE is a W.I.P. on my bench . It,s not a bad model by any  circumstance .I personally will NOT be using P.E. on mine. to that extent I have thinned down the molded on rails to a scale thickness .Yes, it took a little work , but it was worth it.The only place I DID NOT use scale parts were the ladders between the decks .Then , I digress , I," sigh ",used P.E. ladders I had in my stash . I did use the kit rails with them though . Now you have a choice . All the windows on the satellite boat and the main vessel are molded solid . You can cut them out and then use ELMERS glue as window maker .When its fully dry (a day or two) take some TESTORS matallic paint in truquoise and paint the BACKSIDE of those windows (in the little boat you,ll have to paint the center cabin window forward on the outside as well as the aft ones . Then go from there .I have found that it all goes together well , just be careful around the aft corners of the main hull . There is some places on the main cabin near the running lights . Be careful here . other than that its got NO sink marks or pin ,arks (where it got pushed out the mold ) in places .Just make sure you remove all of them anyway . Enjoy the build.  I now realize this thread started in 2008 , but that,s okay , maybe someone will see this and it will help them .        tankerbuilder
