But serious about the thread-wires.

What is the best way to attach them?  Superglue?

I'm glad you 'fessed up.My verbal response to your first post was"You gotta be f'n kidding me!"I was initially worried about you possibly handling a hobby knife around your son.Big Smile [:D]

When I was younger I used some ultra-fine thread my grandmother had.  Using a paid of magnifying goggles and a razor blade I'd snip it close.  Wouldn't have to use superglue.

super glue would work well. i would also suggest using small wire or get a photo etch kit for this model. there should be some parts that look like rigging for the life boat davits.

Make a puddle of medium thickness CA glue (basically the same as Crazy glue, but thickened so as to not be so runny) on a discarded piece of plastic, dip the tip of the thread in it, rapidly place the tip against where the thread should attach, then give it a squirt of CA glue accelerant.   The glue accelerant is key.   You can't hold the thread steady for long enough to let even CA glue to set naturally.

If you dip the thread in the glue puddle carfully, the little bulb of CA glue the form around the thread tip actually  comes in handy because when painted, it passes for the tackles that attaches cables to objects aboard the real ship.

LOL!  Dude!  THAT is why the Titanic is so famous.  Go read up on the ship's history and you'll see why!

RMS Titanic Question
Posted by DerOberst on Monday, November 3, 2008 9:32 PM

Folks,

My son and I are tackling our first ship project:  Revell's RMS Titanic in 1:570 scale.

As we are working on this something seems odd.  It does not look like there are enough lifeboats for a ship this size.

And does anyone have any suggestions for the wires.  Fine black thread, but how do I attach the thread. Crazy glue?

Suggestions? Comments?
