In relation to a potential load for this beast, Trumpeter makes a Type 90 in 1/72.

Mark, thanks for the reply.....I never knew that Stevens had a retail outlet!

I thought from the pics that I have seen of the LCAC that portions were in fact left natural aluminum, with some areas painted a few different shades of gray.

Thanks

Hello Firecaptain!

The Trumpeter LCAC is a great kit- I found it pretty much fell together.

I thought the rubber/vinyl? bladder would be a problem but it fit the hull perfectly.

I used Instant Jet C/A glue- working small sections at a time, then hitting them with accelerator. I got a good bond that is (so far) durable.

My LCAC is on display at AAA Hobbies (Stevens International) in Magnolia NJ. The guys even took it to display at their booth at the Chicago HobbyShow. When (and if) I finally figure out how to post pics I will send some.

As far as I know the entire craft is natural metal (aluminum?). Thats how I painted mine-with Krylon flat aluminum spray and then various shades of silver and aluminum Model Master enamels. Hpe this helps-

Mark

J.....thanks for the links and info......and yep it's BIG!

In most of the pics it looks like a large portion of this craft is natural dull aluminum, (which I would think would corrode in salt water).

Anyone know if portions of this craft are in fact left in a natural aluminum state?

Thanks

UPS man had one for me today......this thing is in a pretty good size box.

Lots of detail, I can see that the flotation / lift bladder is more on the loose side as far as the fit. It's pretty flimsy, and where it may have not been an issue in 1/144, it poses a slight fit problem in 72nd.

I need to figure what kind of adhesive I need to use on the bladder, its definately some kind of vinyl.

This is the JMSDF version, need to figure what kind of load if any I will place on it.

Anyone else got one of these on the bench yet?

Thanks
