Trumpeter 1/700 USS Missouri

I was thinking about starting this model soon and was wondering if anyone has any suggestion on how to approach this model?  Has anyone removed the chian on this model and replaced it with jewelry chain?  Also, the box art showed a greenish looking decks.  Did they age the teak decks during the 80's cruise before decommissioning?  I am trying to decide if full hull or waterline and try my hand at water.

I built the Trumpeter New Jersey using Campbell's fine model railroad chain. It's fairly close in size. I wouldn't rely on the box art or even the provided painting guide as I have built other Trumpeter kits and the guides weren't accurate to say the least. I would also suggest that if you opt for the full hull join the upper and lower sections as your first step as the parts usually have a prominent mismatch.

Thanks Warhorse3 for you suggestions.  Since this model is of its last voyages before returning to the mothball fleet, where the decks still the teak/yellowish color?  I found a lot of WWII and other profiles of the ship but not a lot from the sky and none of any color.

The decks were natural wood, a light tan when dry but changed to a dark tan / light brown when wet. You want overhead pics of her in color, watch the first "Under Siege" movie with Steven Segal in it. There are several scenes of the ship under way in it.
