What is the scale?  Resin can be very costly; $179 seems like a reasonable price for many kits but far too expensive for others.

Build up at Hyperscale, including some pix of the scratchbuilt bar armor process.   There is also a link to the manufacturer's website.

You could probably ping the builder off of Hyperscale for more info.

The thing must be the size of a shoe box,  there may be 4-5 pounds of resin in the kit.

Resin costs ~25 bucks per pound (in pound quantities, less in bulk).   You would probably need a similar quantity of RTV to make the molds (at similar costs).   The master & manufacturer arn't making a great deal of profit - probably more a labor of love.

If its a subject which interests you, and you are aware that it is not a shake-n-bake kit but will require some scratchbuilding,  I'd say go with it.   It is not a piece of overpriced styrene which we're seeing now
