Tamiya release this kit with waterline option, plastic pieces molded in grey and red, anchor chain and propeller shafts made with metal parts, photo-etched parts for radar etc. Did not see any inbox review yet. How does it compare to the Hasegawa kit of the same subject and scale?
While the subject is not of particular interest to me, I am very interested in knowing how these high priced destroyer kits from Tamiya and Trumpeter compare with the newly-tooled Dragon destroyer smart kits. With part counts in the 500 pieces range, what do they add compared to those old kits with under 200 parts. (The Hasegawa Yukikaze has 177 parts.)
The new Revell Bismarck (1/350) and Fletcher (1/144) set new standard for value for the money. They are larger kits (~30") with excellent details, yet keeping street price well under $80.
