WEM paint thinner?
Posted by searat12 on Thursday, January 22, 2009 7:54 AM
I've been having problems with my WEM paints lately.  Can anyone recommend a good and compatible paint thinner for WEM enamel paints?  I have been try Humbrol thinner, but it just makes the paint clot (though fine for cleaning brushes).  I have run into this before with 'proprietory' thinners with others.....

See John Sheridan's review of Colourcoats at SteelNavy.  It includes a comparison of different thinners

My favorite is lacquer thinner from the hardware store (Lowes = Crown brand).   At 12 dollars a gallon it is much less expensive than specialist hobby brands of similar stuff.

I've been using Testors Airbrush Thinner with excellent results.

I use proper artists' turpentine, which I get from a local hardware store for £2.99 (say USD4.10) per 500ml. Works just fine.
