Dockyard diorama base - just needs a few things like ... ships!

I wanted to post a few pics of the dockyard base I'm building to display my Haskell-class AKA whenever it gets done. My only real exposure to ports and dockyards was around Galveston, Texas, about 20 years ago, and I, well ... wasn't really paying too much attention to the minutia. What I'm aiming for is a fairly plausible scene where the brand-new AKA is loading equipment and men in San Francisco for her first mission, the invasion of Iwo Jima.

The scale is 1/700. Dock and buildings are all from Loose Cannon Productions; trucks are from Skywave's beachhead vehicles set, some modified to look civilian; all the railroad rolling stock was scratchbuilt since White Ensign Models quit making it. I wanted to get comments and critiques before I started gluing down all the lovely little 1/700 people:

mfsob,

...I'm loving it!  Can't wait to see the little folks hustling about the docks.  Keep the photos coming!
