HMS Levant
Posted by Marcus.K. on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 7:16 AM

Ahoy sea dogs,

does anyone has any information about a British Sloop of War HMS Levant?

It was one of the two ships captured by the USS Constitution in 1815. WIKIPEDIA

Are there any books with technical, historical information? Any drawings, lines? Any models known?  I am interested in anything about the ship.

Thanks in advance!

HMS Levant was a 20 gun (20x 32 lb carronades plus 2 x 6 pounder long guns) flush-decked ship-sloop of the 'Spey' class.  This class was essentially a shlighty reduced copy of the famous captured French ship-sloop, 'Bonne Citoyenne.'   You can see a builders draft of HMS Spey in thebook Warships of the Napoleonic Era' by Robert Gardiner on page 66.  Hope this helps!
