LHD Wanted
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 9:42 AM
Does anyone know of a decent model of a LHD out there? I want the Wasp class but with marking for the Mighty Kearsarge LHD-3. I know it would probably have to be 1/700 even tho I would like bigger.

Revell Germany makes a 1/700 Wasp class LHD (I have two of them). It's of decent quality, but only has markings for the USS Wasp (LHD-1) and USS Essex (LHD-2).

I'd really like a 1/350 LHD, and hopefully, Trumpeter or Tamiya will answer my prayers.

I served briefly on USS BonneHomme Richard (LHD-6) and have started the necessary steps to scratchbuild one. I heven't settled on 1/350 or 1/196

You may want to check Dragon for USS KEARSARGE. I have their USS TARAWA and USS PELELIU models (deployed on both).

I really want the Kearsarge marking because I was on her for 3 years. Right now I would settle for the 1/350 but would prefer something bigger.

Luke,

Correct, the Dragon kits of LHA/LHDs are 1/700. Haven't seen an LHD-3 but I remember seeing one in 1/700. Would love to see 1/350 in either LHA or LHD.
