Re;Help on the Kuznetsov airwing.....

.....hello all. After a divorce I have had some of my loft isulation moved over to my new place. One of the first items that caught my eye was my Italeri 1/720 Admiral Kuznetsov. I wanna make this model as it seems less complicated than some of the other ship models I have. I have attempted to research the colour schemes for the air wing based on board. There seem to be maqny variations. I purchased the Trumpeter aviation set no.1 in 1/700 which will fill the deck quite well (why are they clear????) I have also seen a difference in pics (quality????) showing the deck anything from a strange orange/red/dark grey. I have seen the post on site re an orange'y colour but am open to suggestions. If anyone can suggest any colour schemes for the contents of the kit (Mig 27,Su 33,su 33UB, Su 25TG,Ka 27,Ka 29,Ka 31 and the Yak 141)  I would be grateful. I have found colour schemes for some in naval ops but do not know if they would apply on board the Kuznetsov. I mainly use Tamiya acrylics but can buy others. I have posted here as it is mainly a ship kit. I thank you all in advance for any help.

kind regards

Hank

Well, modern kits use clear a/c as the best paint for clear canopies is still none at all.

Now, given how soviet a/c often have less glass than their western bretheren, this might not be quite so obvious.  Does maks a nive effext on items like helos, though.

I want to remember that Soviet naval practice used a red linoleum on their decks.  That red I have seen described as being any thing from a "hull" to a "brick' red, and likely every shade between or besides.  The models that have looked best to me used a color similar to Humbrol leather, although a more "roan" rather than chestnut hue might be apt.

That help any?

White Ensign Models has all the proper deck colors. I'm using them for my Sovremenny-class and it looks beautiful!

Cap'n.....many thanks...appreciated,rsog....I'll give WEM a call as I am waiting for some other stuff from them....add to the list.........many thanks to you both for answering....any idea re the colour schemes for the aircraft. I seen some helo's in a two/three tone colour like that worn by Mi14's and also a wierd two tone camo. I have seen the jets in a twotone camo although have pics of a 'Flanker' in a three tone. All seem to be variations of blues n greys. Cheers all,Hank
