I am so glad that you put "what if" disclaimer in there. I was going nuts trying to identify it with what little knowledge I have knocking around my charcoal briquet of a brain until I got down to your comments at the bottom of your post. Whew! It does look good so far, though. You aren't finished with it yet, are you?

Funky fun what if for sure, nice detail in the hangar. The 5" mount is kind in an awkward location, so close to the AA guns and the superstructure, it wont be able to rotate freely (and the folks manning the AA guns wont be able to stay standing with the 5" concussion ; )  But it is a what if fun project : )

If you want a "cheap" ship project, look for the old Monogram 720-ish scale modern carriers... very crude and old molds, but cheap and you can scratchbuild to your heart's content. A few bucks more (less than 20$ on sale online) you can pick up 700 scale dragon premium kits with a small PE fret.HTH!
