There are a number of threads here, on making plastic look like wood, weathering, etc.. Try searching as many variables of wood deck/plastic deck/weathering as you can think of. There should be close to a day of reading available.

Thanks J-Mart, I appreciate it. I'd like to weather the deck, but I'm not sure how to go about doing that. I'll have to look into what to do.

Thanks again!

Ditto on the good job on a seldom seen subject....  Will you be weathering the deck a bit? Look forward to the rest...

I know what you mean. This one has been challenging, but I have managed to get it snapped in place for this photo. I'll be painting it before I attach it permanently.

Thank you for the compliment.

A superb job, far better than my most recent at this kit. I could not get that H shaped bridge to sit properly.

Progress on old Airfix Great Western

well, I feel awkward posting my progress on a ship among all these great Master Shipbuilders. Oh welkl, at best this Thread will not be noticed much, but I'm posting anyway here.

I feel like a Jr. varsity player taking the field alongside pro ball players!

Here you go everyone, my latest progress done on my old Airfix Great Western.

Man, it is tough getting this ship done! I've shaved enough spare plastic off the parts to make a whole new kit! I have now finished almost all of the assembly. The second mast and the "H"-shaped deck/platform are just fit in place for now, as is the main stack. I need to paint the raised deck before I cement it into place. I also want to paint the stack before gluing it down and then I have the lifeboats to paint and assemble before mounting them on the davits. After that is just some detail painting to be done and she'll be ready to rig.

Okay, enough gab, on to the pics...

Here she is sitting on her stand:

The crooked spar has already been fixed. It came loose when I jarred the model.

And here is a shot from above showing the deck:

That's about all I was able to get done so far. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get more done.

Thanks all for looking. Comments are always welcome.
