I just bought one of these on e-bay last night. Has anyone done this kit yet? Is it any good? What are the problems/pitfalls? Accuarcy? Did I just waste my money? Thanks guys.

Paul are you talking about the U-511 kit? I see the Nichimo 1/200 YAMATO kit, but not the u-boat.

my biggest complaint about the model would be the railings on the hull and conning tower...too large for the scale. Additionally, I'm pretty sure the stanchions for the deck railings should come out of the edge of the horizontal surface of the deck, not the upper side of the hull casing.

The Wintergarten railings on the CT could be done with finer wire (or sprue, if you have the talent!)

Thanks, I have some leftover P/E in 1/350. Maybe I can make work.
