subfixer suggested that I remove the signal flags from the Gato. I wonder why.

 ;-)

Because they are the wrong scale (too large), they are (including the ensign and the jack) hanging like they are made of steel plate and totally unnatural looking. That's why. Other than that, it's a very good build.

Don't bother trying to give this guy any kind of feedback---he won't listen and doesn't really care what you have to say unless it is praise...We have dealt with him in Armor and Dios for a long time and know his habits...

I have nothing personal against the guy, but I don't appreciate the way he uses the Forum.  He only posts things he buys from other folks (that are usually in debt to him from loans he makes to them) and NEVER comments on others' work...he only drops in, posts builds he has others do, and then drops back by later to collect the "attaboys"...

I know, Manny, but I thought (maybe, just this one time) that he would take this advice.

Wrong scale? that's too bad. But I'' leave them as is because the sub looks better with flags. This Sunday I'll get another finished warship - a Yamato 1:250 w/ PE upgrade, not from Khun Hong but from my visiting modeler. It'll cost more than 10 times the Gato but it'll be well worth anyway!

I agree with subfixer, the flags look out of scale on the Gato. That is a beautiful display area you have there! Fantastic looking models too.

Thanks for all kind feedbacks! Prior to this deal I already got a type VIIC 1:72, but for the GATO I bought 1:144 one instead because of limited storage space (both were built and shown earlier). But when I saw his offer to sell in a local modeling site I think I must get them first and find storage space later. As for the new VIIC 1:72 I have a plan to convert it to VIIC/41 by changing armaments and other parts if needed.

subfixer suggested that I remove the signal flags from the Gato. I wonder why.

searat72, the Gato just dwarfs the typeVIIC both in length and in size.
The Gato is well worth having. You see, it readily becomes the longest model that I have.

surfsub, not a Maritime Modelling Museum but a Military Model Museum because not only warships but warplanes, armors and dioramas are shown too. Warships account for the least proportion in my collection (1xx warships against 4xx warplanes against 2,xxx armors and dio's). ;-)

WOW!Shock [:O] I can't believe a modeler would sell his models at such dirt-cheap prices just because he has no storage space. Either way you made a killin' in the "deal department" Model Maniac!!

Is it a Showroom or a Shipyard? You have an impressive display besides the impressive bargain you collected. Maybe you could start a Maritime Modelling Museum. And they all looked very nicely built as well. Propeller [8-]

What is remarkable to me is the SIZE difference between the Gato and the Type VIIC...  I have the VIIC (early) already in the attic, perhaps I shoud get the Gato, if I can find one at a good price! (and I am also looking for a Japanese I-19 at a good price too!).....

You got a good deal. You should remove the signal flags on the Gato.

Nice score.

I have a Gato waiting to be built so I know how large it is.

A finished GATO submarine 1:72 for $19 - among others

Would you buy the kits you want, build them the best you can, and then sell them off at about one fifth of the prices you bought? Probably not! This is a rare case of Khun Hong and I'm very lucky to be the buyer! The reason that Khun Hong sold is about storage space. He sold me the King George V 1:350 for just $8, the type VIIC 1:72 submarine for just $16, and the Gato class submarine 1:72 for just $19! What a deal! He kindly delivered them to my house yesterday. After some dusting, they now reside in my showroom.

FYI, the typeVIIC is 93cm (3' 1") long while the GATO is 132cm (4' 4") in length.
