1/350 Typhoon class Submarine
Posted by Leonidas on Friday, April 10, 2009 8:08 AM

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has built or has an opinion on Dragons 1/350 scale Typhoon class Sub. I was looking to pick one up (no, I'm not going to make it into the Red October Whistling [:-^]) but was wondering what the quality of the kit is like. I read somewhere the propellers are incorrect, actually the whole aft is, but is there anything else I should know?

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Dragon's Typhoon is inaccurate in the after end. The real ship has pump-jet propulsion while the kit depicts propellors.  I believe the 1/350 Alanger kit is more accurate.

They're not pump jets, just shrouds. But the Alangar kit is much more accurate if you can find it.

I stand corrected.  All the information I've read concerning to the Typhoons alluded to pump-jets.  Anyway, the Alanger kit is more accurate.

I have the Dragon kit, because it was on a mega sale, but not very accurate... and yes, I WAS going to make it into Red October as a "fun" build :)

I believe Modelshipwrights has a review, but site has been down on/off for couple days including now :(
