Many years ago I purchased some ,I believe they were IMAII kits .There were four boats in this series and they were about 1/35 in scale . The coast guard inshore 40 ' harbor patrol boat was one . The next , if I remember was a 65 foot interdiction cutter of the late 50s ,Then a smaller 24' and a coast guard selfrighting lifeboat similar to the glencoe kit. I would appreciate a heads up on any of them.     THANK YOU    tankerbuilder  P.S. they were ALL plastic .

I've built every USCG plastic model there is and I've never heard of any thing like you describe. Imaii offered the Coast Guard sailing barque "Eagle" (1:200)some time back, but nothing else.

Lindberg offered a plastic four boat kit in the 1950's(it has been re-issued quite a few times). The boats were close to "N" scale(model railroad) and consisted of a Tugboat, a Tow boat, a Fireboat and a Tuna Seiner. Each boat was full hull and measured about 4 inches in length.

Coast Guard models are few and far between as modeling subjects go, having served in the CG for 30 years I'm unfamiliar with these kits. Heck, I'd love to see a series of large 1:35 plastic CG cutters, I'd even settle for one!

I took the Tuna Seiner and kit bashed it into a CG buoy tender for my "N" scale train layout. I've transformed many naval vessels into Non-prototypical CG cutters, you should have seen my "Fletcher class" CG cutter, it was a real hoot! OK, I don't paint navy ships white these days, I've learned to scratch build CG ships and boats, it's quite a challenge but its prototypical(and fun).

Hey THUNDER 1 --- Really , I do remember these kits because they also did two speedboat models , one that is still available from another company . They were definitely JAPANESE and not anything done by an american company . I am pretty sure that the models are out there somewhere . It was during the time the little SHELL WELDER ( a small coastal tanker)was first released for sale .That was around 1976 Approximately .   TANKERBUILDER

Hi tankerbuilder.Smile [:)] Just checked the shelf in the back of the basement and found a partially finished CG Patrol Boat. It is Lindbergs 95 ft. Cutter kit #707M. Decals label it as CG95304. I'm looking at the plans now and they are yellow and brittle. They have been back there for years. All the parts are there but it looks like a field mouse or two has been playing with it. It's about 13 to 14 inches long. Had a battery powered motor in it, but I left it out. I remember seeing the speedboat kits. Didn't buy any of them as they were not my thing back then.
