there's a couple of different places to get rigging thread in various sizes. one would be http://www.modelexpo-online.com/. i've also bought upholstery theard at walmart and used them for the stays so you don't get fuzz. but really any thread will work. to eliminate the fuzz problem you can run the rigging through some bees wax.

Here's a website that i've used before to color match humbrol paints.

http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_humbrol.htm

hope that helps a little.

Well FedEx delivered the model a few minutes ago.

Same model as I remember accept no line for rigging and no figures.

Not that it matters since I still have the figures from my original build.

You have to now get the rigging thread as an aftermarket item, any ideas on the best place for this?

There are also number call outs for the paint colors but no list of paints, although since it does say Humbrol I'm guessing it's the numbers on the tins.

I have both the Heller and Revell kits.  They are the same kit.  The moldings are identical; the parts are the same.  The only noticeable difference is that the Heller kit is molded in white plastic.

The Airfix Golden Hind is stated to be 1/72 scale and is scheduled for re-release this year (if it hasn't already been re-released).

I hope that it helps!

Thank You for your valued input.

I have built the Revell kit many years ago that is why I was hoping it was the same kit.

I guess I will go ahead and pick one up and let you know if it is the same kit once it arrives.

Thanks.

I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I'm pretty certain the Heller kit is a reissue of the old Revell 1/96 (not 1/72) kit.  (Airfix also did a Golden Hind, which may have been on 1/72 or thereabouts.  I've never bought it; I understand it's actually a pretty nice kit - if perhaps not quite up to the standard of the Revell one.  But the box art for the Heller kit certainly matches the Revell one - and the Revell one has appeared in Heller boxes several times in the past.)

If it is indeed the Revell kit, it's one of my favorites.  A Forum search on "Golden Hind" will turn up quite a few posts about it.

I have to say I get thoroughly sick of model companies publishing bogus information about the scales of their ship kits.  There are so many examples of this sort of thing that I can't begin to think of them all.  I often get the impression that the people responsible for writing the advertising copy for such kits know absolutely nothing about the subject matter - and don't bother looking at the contents of the boxes.  If I'm right about the Heller Golden Hind, it contains some beautifully detailed crew figures - who, on 1/200 scale, would be about twelve feet tall.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

I have a question about the Heller Golden Hind.

I thought I read in one of the lengthy threads that the Heller 1//200 scale model is actually the repop of the Revell 1/72.

Is this correct?

Squadron has it listed on sale in the May catolog and I was thinking about picking one up if it was.

Thanks.
