IJN Yamato, WIP - Now fast tracked deadline of March 19

Thanks, between doing this project, two other builds and 5 kids, I have neither the money nor time at then moment to of considerd any of the PE kits for the yamato (some being more expensive than the $100 plus dollars the kit averages here downunder). Though after these are complete I'd like to do a full workup on something (good quality kit, lots of AM detailing etc)

I built this kit long time ago. It's still the biggest project I've ever taken. I remember that it took me 4 days & nights to assemble it and 2 days & nights to paint it even though I didn't do any masking but painted the wooden deck grey same as the other parts.

I recently got another Tamiya 1:350 Yamato w/ local made PE upgrade (3 sheets) for just $46 (second-handed). New one costs about the same, but without PE. Local made PE upgrade (3 sheets) costs around $27 here. Come to Thailand some day and enjoy model shopping. I got my Elco 80' 1:35 for $81 only. It may cost twice or thrice down there. 

UPDATE:

After 5 months in dry-dock (packed for moving) IJN was refloated for display 2 days ago. Tropical Storm Monika was upgraded and to Cyclone Monika 24 hours later striking IJN Yamato causing some hull damage.

Tropical Storm Daddy then hit the area causing considerable noise, furthuring the damage to Yamatos hull, luckily no other damage or any smacked botties happened.

 Repair Crews started late last night, continuing this morning. Prognosis is considerable work needed, but the Invincible Yamato shall sail again

After basic hull reassembly, I plan to use gap filling super-glue to fill seams, then sand. Two small parts could not be found (original damage by cyclone monika), these will be filled with milli-put or similar, any other repairs puttied or superglued, then a priming to asses.

Any ideas or comments welcome

As it ended up I didnt move, LOL. We were looking at going from Slowbart to build in rural vic, but have reconsidard and might just buy the place we are currentley in and do some extensions. So a whole lot of getting ready for a probable big move that didnt happen .

As for those tropical brisbane storms, yeah I know them. We lived there while my wife was at QUT. I remember one, so much hail brissy looked almost snowed in the next day, but from what I hear its been really bad this year already.

The hull as been basically repaired, 4 parts have to be completely replaced, (one down as a test). I will probably need to glue down some old sprue and reglue a few sections for added strength, may even add some milliput over the inside seams after for more strength. Dont have any gap filling super glue at the moment so I did a test with the milliput when I filled the first of the holes, will need to wait a few more hours see how that went didnt go to bad though.

Well nine months down since the first post and we come full circle. Hull is as best as I can tell 100% again. Most of the repars were done with miliput and long hours of sanding and some use of an engraver. I then did fine seams with gap filling superglue. I'll admit it was a more off than on job, but thank goodnes its done.

Next lay down a layer of primer and if thats goes well (ie no missed bits show up) it will be time to get the real work started :)

OK I now have 5 weeks to build this thing as the missus wants me to put it in a local hobby expo comming up, not only that she paid for the eduard PE set and new barrels which arrived on Tuesday. So I'll be busy I guess, lots of updates to come.
