Yacht America in San Diego SAILS
Posted by Big Jake on Saturday, May 30, 2009 10:04 PM

I was planning some of the events I would like to try and do while in San Diego and I found that a replica of the Yacht America was built in 1993 and sail from the Harbor.

Gee Guess Where I will be one evening?

Well worth the $85.00

Location: Maritime Museum of San Diego

Board the classic yacht America and indulge in a relaxing sail as the sun sinks slowly in the west.  The America will cast off from the Maritime Museum of San Diego and sail off into the beautiful sunset over the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay.

We will provide soft drinks, water, light snacks, and a remarkable sailing experience on yacht, America. You are welcome to bring adult beverages if you wish.

You should bring a jacket as it may cool off when the sun sets, a camera to capture  the evening sunset, and binoculars to view any wildlife you might see.

Tickets:  $85.00 per adult and $40.00 per child (12 and under)

MORE INFORMATION:  1-858-922-3522

Is that the same 'America' that used to sail out of Newport, RI in the Summer, and Key West in the Winter?

I hope Revell will reissue its classic 1/56 model of America next year.

I wish Revell would rework its old model, and produce a new one in 1/32, or maybe 1/24 scale!

Jake have fun. She's been here on Lake Michigan a couple of times at South Haven. I got to go aboard and walk around but never sailed on her . That would be outstanding.
