Locating Belknap Class Cruiser DDG or CG (USS)
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, December 12, 2003 6:05 PM
I was stationed on the USS Sterett CG-31 formerly DDG-31 for 10 years in Subic Bay, PI. The Navy has now scraped her at the yard outside San Fran. Is there anyone that can help me find where I might find a kit of this great fighting ship? I'm not sure where to start to look, except to the fine people that post here! Thank you in advance, Eric on Guam

I've looked around and there doesn't seem to be any yet... perhap Jag Models or other resin ship manufacturers will make this later on.

I did telephone calls (and e-mails) to several retailers and distributors and nobody has one. But I think a resin kit of the Truxtun will be comming out later this summer from Tom's model works.Question [?]

Edit June 26,2004 10:55 PM CDT:

Commander Series Models Inc. will be releasing a 1/350 and 1/700 scale Truxtun some time this summer according to FSM in its April 2004 issue on page 52. Smile [:)]

Chasing the ultimate build.

Close but no cigar, Eric. If youre willing to do some moderate surgery, Pit-Road's Wave-Line series does a 1/700 scale Reeves (kit # WL-063). It's a nice multi media kit, resin, PE , white metal and plastic. A plastic weapons sprue will give you the 5" gun to replace the aft missile launcher but you'll have to do your own helo flight deck. Hobby Link Japan has em on backorder, the only place I've seen em available. Hope this helps, somethng to think about.
