Hello,  CBHusky --I can help you here in two ship types . On the GEARING class I was on (U.S.S.OZBOURN D.D.846 ) We stowed the OFFICERS accomodation ladder on the o1 deck adjascent to no. 1 stack . After F.R.A.M. We stowed it on the o1 level in brackets on the hangar side starboard . On the MIDWAY we stowed them ,They had more than one , Forward sponson , midships sponson port side and on starboardside midships and aft lower sponson . Most seemed to be stowed inboard on the hangar deck .At least that,s where they were when we were underway !!    tankerbuilder    P.S. They usually folded somewhat flat and the handrails folded down over the steps . The upper and lower platforms were either removed or locked in line to the folded stair treads . The bridle (what they hung on ),And the boom were always stowed nearby on racks on the adjascent bulkheads. Fold the rails over the stairs ,leave the platforms flat in line with the stairs . Doing this in p.e. is easy .Don,t bend the steps to forty -five deg. just barely bend them (maybe 5 degrees (,Leave the platforms flat in line with the steps) make a bridle and hang it and the boom nearby . bend the handrails over the steps .     tankerbuilder

I've gone through all the photos I have, and nothing that clearly shows accomodation ladders stowed. I do remember that in most cases they are stowed in brackets on the exterior bulkheads on the main deck (Destroyers, and Cruisers ) usually close to where they would be rigged. The only thing I can suggest is to start looking for any photos of battleships, online, and hope one or more of them shows the ladder stowed.

Lead me not into temptation ..................I can find it myself

Accommodation ladders in stowed position?
Posted by CBHusky on Saturday, July 4, 2009 4:13 PM
I want to add 1 or 2 accommodation ladders to my Montana battleship, but have them in a stowed position somewhere sitting on the deck. I've got the 1/350 Extra Ladders and Stairs fret from GMM, but there are no instructions on how to fold the accommodation ladders so it looks like they are in a stowed position. Does anyone have instructions or maybe can post some pics on how this is done? Thanks.
