Well...yah know....too many models and TOO much time. Been dealing with the "kids" (you know who's) I really need to take them to a day care so I can get something done.

Yea, ok, so how much do we have to fork down (never understood that one) to start the shipyard build?

I think the term is "fork over" and may mean unloading a huge amount of cash with a pitchfork or a forklift.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Its listed as available at HobbyLink Japan.   Price is 28000 Yen, thats about $302 USD (216 Euros), plus shipping.

What is that about the expensive resin kits!

I believe there have been a few displayed at diffirent model conventions over the last 6 months

Might want to look around at older threads on conventions.

IIRC they are bigger than the Revell Gato.

You can pre-order from Great Models now for $120.  They indicate availability is mid-August.

Darn, looks like only the I-53 is targeted for August. I've got the C1, I-20 kit on order.

Here's one test shot of the pre-production kit, so the detail is a bit heavy.

Hope they do well in sales. Would like to see a B1 type in 1/72 as well as a Type IX U-Boat.

Yup, we (HLJ) just got a few in yesterday. Haven't had a peek inside yet, but it is certainly a massive box! Of course it's an import item for us here in Japan, so the 28,000 Yen is the official domestic retail price set by the Japanese distributor of Lindberg kits, Platz. Ouch!

I hope it just looks like the anchor is molded onto the hull side...

Hey, when it comes done to it, no matter how it's done, it'll be the only game in town for a 1/72 IJN submarine kit unless you opt to scratchbuild or just go without. Me, I can't go without (or scratchbuild). My Revell Gato wants an adversary.
