1/426 Arizona photo etch?
Posted by New Hampshire on Sunday, July 19, 2009 3:49 PM

Alas it appears my Google-fu has let me down again.  No matter how many variations I try I can't find any 1/426 Photo etch kits for the Revell 1/426 Arizona.  Most important is the Railings, but I could give the cranes and other stuff a go too.  Anyone able to help me locate these?

Thanks,

Brian

Go to steelnavy.com. Access the Gold Medal Models page. They manufacture an excellent 1/426 scale USS Arizona pe set. The set also has parts to convert the Arizona into Pennsylvania.  Good luck!

Gold Medal Models used to have a PE set for that kit. Check their website www.gmmodels.com.

Warshipguy, that's the ticket!  Thanks!

Warhorse3, the link appears to be no longer active (it appears to be a page of automobile links).

Thanks guys!

Same link as DDPs but clickable:

Loren Perry is the owner/operator and his service is second to none. His shipping department uses surplus blackbird spyplanes.

Tom's Modelworks has a #4004 set for the Revell Arizona. At $11, it seems to be more compatible with the 1957 vintage Revell kit. It may not be the best PE for Arizona, but it gets everything you asked for.

Hobby Boss just re-released the ex-Banner/Trumpeter 1:350 kit for about $40. I would invest in the HB kit if I were to spend the the $40-50 on the GMM PE set.

??? What do you mean by "No Joy"? What's wrong with

Free Time Hobbies, ($10.07)

or

Roll Models searchable catalog ($9.50)? Search for keyword, "Arizona" and manufacturer "Tom's Modelworks".

See my earlier Tom's Modelworks link. This PE set is specifically for the Revell 1:426 scale USS Arizona kit.

It is listed as 1/400 on both sites....is that a typo on their part?  That is why I said that.  I mean, if it IS proper 1/426 then cool, but is it?

The 1:428 scale #4004 PE set is one of the Tom's "1:400 series" set. It you care to click on this link, you will know what it is for.

1:426 is NOT a standard scale. You will not find too many model kits in the exact scale. So the dealers lump all the similar scale detail sets into an "1:400 series".

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the GMM #429-3 PE set in 1:429 scale in their "1:400 and similar series" sets either.

Few people can tell the difference among 1:426 vs. 1:428 vs. 1:429. Probably not the 1:400 scale either.

If you want a standard scale, go with the 1:350 Hobby Boss kit and same scale PE.

I did click the link.  I had seen Tom's kit before, and on the site it lists it as 1/426 which is what the kit was.  I was confused when the two other sites linked listed it as 1/400.  I am sorry.

My apologies for the incorrect website. My computer had crashed a couple of months ago, and I was relying on my far from perfect memory. Goodluck on your build.       Regards,  Bill

No prob Warhorse.  I think I may end up going with the GMM kit even though it is a bit more money.  Thanks for everyones input, as usual you are all a great help!
