USS Montana BB-67

I asked this question almost two years ago, so now I'll ask again. Has any one that visits this forum bought and built the Yankee Models Works USS Montana BB-67? I know its expensive but when you consider the trime to convert or scratch build one, well... time IS money.

I've looked at one. Looked decent. What other options do you have?

Andrew:

I have the Yankee Model works USS Montana. It is a very heavy (11 lbs.) kit. The modeling of the resin parts are fairly decent however the barrels for the main and secondary guns in my kit were oval in shape and not round. They are white metal parts and are fairly soft. I don't know what it costs now but it was expensive in the $400 to $500 range. I have yet to build the kit but I did build a Montana by stretching/widening a Tamiya Missouri. I got the fourth main turret by copying one of the others and then casting it in resin. I used both of GMM's PE sets for it and it turned out pretty good. There is an article in an old Fine Scale Modeler of someone doing this exact same conversion. Cost wise the conversion would be much cheaper. I hope this helps.

Thank you for the input. Looks like I'll save some more pennies in the piggie bank, Magoo
