You can build a 1/700 "Midway" Yorktown or Enterprise by using Tamiya's Hornet and Enterprise kits. You can use the Mini Hobby Enterprise in place of the Tamiya Enterprise.
Here is a list of what you need.
Tamiya Enterprise #77514 (Hull, island an 20mm galleries.)
Tamiya Hornet #77510 (Hull, flight deck and 20mm galleries.)
Mini Hobby Enterprise (Island and 20mm galleries) in place of Tamiya Enterprise.
White Ensign Models PE #755 (Hornet & Enterprise)
Eduard's PE #17001 (This has some pieces that the WEM set doesn't it is designed for the
Tamiya Enterprise kit.)
Trumpeter aircraft
F4F Wildcats #3404
SBD Dauntlas' #3402
TBD Devastators #3403
You will need more 20mm and .50 cal guns than come with the WEM PE set. They do (WEM) make a .50 cal fret.
You will also need to get some resin 1.1" guns or use the ones in the WEM set.
These pieces can be bought from Free Time Hobbies and Pacific Front Hobbies who advertise in the FSM Magazine.
The Hornet kit should be no problem getting but the Tamiya Enterprise is not available in the States. Free Time Hobbies has ordered the kit for me in the past and sometimes they have some in stock.
Paficic Front Hobbies has three different 1.1" guns listed in their catalog.
H-P Models (Germany?) makes or made resin kits of both Yorktown and Enterpise in a 1942 fit. I don't know what time period of 1942 the Enterpise kit is. Pacific Front has them listed on their web site.
