The one's I was on south of Saigon were a dark green, from a short distance away and in different light conditions they appeared black. ASPB's were the same color but were larger so the green was more distinguishable. Things based on LCVP's etc. were gray.

thnks jeff... looking at the box cover, i guess this could be a DARK green... but i know it isnt OD cause there is a helmet on it, and that is OD...so it must be dk gr.

I've never seen PBRs in service without having at least the framework for the canvas tops in place. Gotta remember, in the 'Nam it rained on a daily basis, in some places you could set your watch by it...

As for seeing PBRs in black, I've seen them in the Dark Green 43102 or 34087 OD. The MK III we have at the USS Ling is in 34102.

okay, heres a link, the pic looks like a pibber with absolutley no top..am i correct? and were they used in vietnam like this??
also, on the sidde of the tamia box, the pibber (photo) looks black.... am i correct??
