Need suggestions foe Airfix Wasa

I recently opened the box for Airfix's Wasa. I got it based on recommendations from this forum and I am initially impressed. The gun ports each have a sinkhole in them. I want to build it with the ports closed. Does anybody have any tips on how to fix the problem. It seems as though I will have a tedious job ahead of me. Also, are there any accuracy or historic "fixes" I need to attend to. I want to build it for a friend who has visited he ship and want it to be a surprise and if I pepper her with questions, she will suspect. Anything I need to look out for in the kit?
