Hello all-
Can you stand another question about the Revell Kearsarge kit? Well, here goes.
I'm new to this forum, and can't find a similar inquiry, so forgive me if this is covered elsewhere. I recently obtained a 1971-produced Revell Kearsarge. I have wanted to get one of these for a while now, but the prices they fetch on eBay are usually steep. This kit was affordable, but has some significant pieces missing, such as the forepeak deck, a couple of guns, the pinrails, and a couple of yards. It was listed as a "parts kit," and I bought it knowing full well there were bits missing. I may end up finding an intact kit, and using this one as a parts source myself, but I would like to find out if there is an alternative.
Does anyone know of a source for the missing pieces? I scratch build ship models in wood, and could fashion what's needed myself, but odd as this may seem, I would want to build the model "pure," that is as an all-plastic kit, with the possible exception of blocks and deadeyes. This might be a bit of nutty Romantic nostalgia for the 70s on my part, I don't know.
Anyway, any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Ken B.
