1/400 french aircraft carrier fouch

While teaching modeling newest member, he decided that he would like to built the heller 1/400 fouch air craft carrier as his first ship model.. Ok it a pretty basic kit that screams for some improvement.. I am not into superdetailing it.. I know a lot of could be replaced with photoetch such as the netting rails/ladders.. as for the aircraft.. I am not sure... I could use some trumpter 1/350 aircraft as replacements.. but which ones he wants to build her around the 1990's... Any suggestions or help is as always welcomed.

Here's from Wiki, athough what era I don't know, probably late 80's-early 90's. F-8s were not in use after 2000. Complement on the Foch.

"Aircraft carried: About 40 aircraft: • 15 × Super Étendard • 4 × Étendard IVP • 10 × F-8E (FN) Crusader • 6 × Alizé • 2 × Dauphin Pedro helicopters • 2 × Super Frelon helicopters"

Look at White Ensign Models website. They have a good selection of 1/400 a/c, including Super Etendard, Puma, Gazelle, Crusaders. Also decals that you'll need (all by L'Arsenal), paint etc. Sounds like a fun project!

Heller's 1/400 kit of the French helicopter carrier/ cadet training ship Jeanne d'Arc includes two Super Frelons. Since she spent most of her life as a cadet trainig ship, with most of the hanger spaces converted to accommodation and classrooms for the cadets, it would be accurate to complete her without helos. These could then be used aboard the Foch. Again,if memory serves, she also comes with an Alouette liason helo, so the flight deck wouldn't be totally bare.

Cheers,

Chris.

Cute and cuddly, boys, cute and cuddly!
