Bounty Conversion - HMS Ontario
Posted by Vagabond_Astronomer on Thursday, September 3, 2009 12:30 AM

Discovered whilst looking for something else -

The hull to the recently discovered armed snow HMS Ontario is very, very close to that of the HMAV Bounty, and their sizes are rather similar. This might make for an interesting conversion project.

Great photos and lines/plans here:

Bounty:

I agree that superficially, the two look similar ..

 I don't think I would give them one ' very ' ( similar ), much less two ...

I think using a bounty kit would be more challenging than interesting.

It would take a lot of bashing and parts not found in a Bounty kit  ...

That said, the plans and photos found  at the link above looks to be an excellent resource for building a wooden scratch model ...

It would have to be a fairly simple candidate kit; a solid hulled wooden kit, for instance, or the old Pyro/Life Like kit (the sunject of my current build). The other plastic kits, the larger ones, would simply require a lot more work. Of course, so would the Pyro/Life Like (now Lindberg) kit. It just struck me how similar the hull lines were to those of the Bounty.
