                        I myself am putting the final touches on my 1/350 Tamaya Missouri. Recieved my Le Arsenal 40mm Bofors mounts the other day. (Great detail parts), got to rig it and apply my Gold Medeal Models Photo Etch railings on and that should just about finish her off. Next is the King George V in same the scale.

                        One of those crazy projects, scratchbuilding Bismark in 1/100, it`s one big hulk. The biggest problem is where to put it when it`s finished.

                        I'm finishing up HMS Sheffield in 1/350, and after that, probably jump into the Trumpeter Hornet...may even get adventurous and convert her into Yorktown or Enterprise...

                        I'm working on getting everything together for Tamaya (BB-63) Missouri 1/350. I'm building it for my father-in-law since he served on her in 1945-1948. Does anyone have any ideas of what I should add to her to make her shine? I'm going to get Gold medal photo ech rails. What else should I order for her?

                        Go for the L'Arsenal 40 mm Bofors mounts from Pacafic Font Hobbies, Also get lots of pics of her. Theres alot of ladders and supports that are not on the model.
                        Ask your Dad if he knew the Master Chief in Sept. 45 His name is Sly, he's a neighbor of mine. Hope this helps, need more info drop a few notes. Mines almost done.

                        I'm just finishing a XVI century's British Galleon, Man'O War. My previous ships were: the HMS Victory and a Mississipi Steam boat, Robert E. Lee.                         I'm building a 1/48 model of PT-105 which is an 80' Elco. It started with the Bluejacket kit and grew from there. I believe I've taken advantage of most media and done a lot of scratch building along the way. I've been working on this one for about 4 years now. Most of it in research. I've been lucky enough to talk to the skipper of the boat and other really great people who have helped me on this project. With any kind of luck I'll be done by this spring.

                        I have finished my USS Missouri and now I'm takin on the HMS King George V by Tamaya in the devine scale of 1/350.

                        Will be using Tom's PE set for it and L' Asenal 40 mm Bofors left over from the Missouri. Doing her in late 44-45 configuration..

                        Trying to cut back (ya know..DER WIFE>) wants to know - when I'm building a bigger house for ALL THESE MODELS...anywayy...just started my second ship (first was TAMIYA BISMARCK -1/350-- not bad...if I do say so....) this month is the YAMATO...quite Sad reading "REQUIEM for BATTLESHIP YAMATO" - so much work and effort...PUT DOWN..but..I guess for a better CAUSE?..anyway just finished the HULL - am happy with my Blue Tint Grey....actually mixed some Polly Scale Insignia Blue with Tamiya - Deck Grey - IT WORKED!...pheww...never know...and for once the AZTEC air brush..BEHAVED itself...they are nasty!...aren't they...Well on the TURRETS NEXT..happy ship building...!

                        I just started Airfix Classic Ships SE HMS Prince, 1:180 scale. I haven't built a rigged ship since getting married, and I didn't want to do another clipper or small scale galleon.

                        I'm sorry to say I wouldn't recommend this model. The plastic fits well, but the rigging detail is poor. There is only one painting included and and it doesn't show much painting detail.

                        I'm sorry I bought it but it will be an impressive living room display for my fathers new fireplace.

                        I have a nice 1:72 scale airship collection. Sadly my warship collection is landfill.

                        Right now I putting the final touches on the Revell 1/96th Cutty Sark, I'm also almost finished the 1/100th. HMS Victory by Heller. I mostly build sailing ships, figures, space and have an extensive collection of older sailing ship/vessles model kits. I'm alsways looking for a sale or trade!!

                        I can link a few photos but I do not know how to link to this BB yet, Any ideas?

                        I have had the Tamiya Missouri sitting half built in my model cabinet for 5 or 6 years now. But when that's done I plan on building the DML Mobile Bay (hope you are catching some sarcasm here). Ships just seem to take so long from start to finish, I rarely get one completed; but, I am the best at getting them started.

                        I am finishing up the research/planning phase of a 1:200 Scale SORYU, my first scratch build project.

                        I am getting lots of help from a long-time scratch-builder, so I feel more like a co-builder, but it the learning experience will be invaluable.

                        I'm about 70% done on the 1/350 Minicraft Titanic, my wife's pet project, she has had a fasination about her ever since Bob Ballard found her. I also just started the MHM 1/350 USS Spruance that I'm making into the USS Caron (one of my old ships). I also have an aircraft (1/32 Grumman F3F-3), and a car (1/24 Davey Allison rookie year NASCAR T-bird) in the works.

                        I just put the finishing touches on Tamiya's 1/700 USS Hornet on its way to the Doolittle Raid. I spent about ten months off and on working on this. I added photoetched landing gear and propellers to all planes as well as railings and 20mm guns to the ship itself. I placed five Wildcats on the fore end of the flight deck and plenty of planes in the aft end of the hangar bay (which can be seen through the partially opened doors).
                        I tried a technique I read about in FSM about this ship and blew up the instruction sheet drawing of the cammo. pattern and used it to create a frisket film mask. The results were really nice. The only variation I made was to paint the gray and then the blue once the masks were installed.
                        Next I'll do something a bit less time intensive, probably my 54mm Knight Templar.

                        I'm about to start building the GIGIANTIC Revell Monogram 1/96 USS Constitution. I realize that this is quite different from my usual WW2 battleships and cruisers.

                        PS: Many people I know complain of having trouble rigging a battleship, destroyer, etc... well try rigging this beast, you wimps!Tongue [:P]

                        How about that. I´m currently building (and I´m afraid for the next 2 years, at least that´s what my wife fears the most) on 1:72 Aircraft Carrier Model, the USS Sangamon CVE-26, before that I finished a Japanese "Kaibokan" Type D, Class II all in the same scale and all scratch build.
                        If you´re worried where to put a 1:100 scale Bismark modell, what am I supposed to say to my problem? I recently found a small company in Germany which is manufacturing quite a lot of photo etched parts for ships in the scale of 1:100, and they are quite cheap too! If anyone is interested in this address or my modells just give me an answer, I would be happy to share my experiences with anyone.

                        Use a needle threader to help with the rigging. I used several on the Cutty Sark and it sure reduced eye strain.

                        Drop me a line I have a few tips on the USS Constitution, I just picked up the USS United (Sister ship) and the revell Thermoplae. The Big C, is a above average kit but there are some short cuts you need to know about.

                        Hi...I'm currently working on Revell's USS Lionfish. I wasn't too pleased with the level of detai, so I bought a photo-etch set made specifically for it, as well as a new conning tower. I still didn't like the way it was going to come out, so I've used CorelDraw 8 to do some vector graphic *.cdr file, which I had made into 8 1/2" x 11" negatives (fairly cheap: $8.00 each!). I purchased a photoetching set from Datac Inc. This week-end, I'll be stinking up the house with smelly chemicals. . If, and I repeat IF this works, I'll have a new set of lmber holes for the sides of th superstucture, as well as the bow plane recesses, new foreward & aft torpedo tube exterior doors, hatches etc. The only problem I forsee now is that I'll have to make a new deck, as well as the upper part of the pressure hull...this will be visible through the gaps in the decking. Maybe a new deck gun...hmmmm

                        Why German armor of course! Next ship project will be 1:350 'Arizona Just ordered (PRE-ORDER) the new Trumpeter 1:350 Essex. Look forward to their release of the Lexington/Saratoga kits and the Nimitz later this year.

                        Just finished the old Nichimo Kagero in 1/200, basic kit, not much detail...took me about 300 hours, and I've added about 1500 new parts to her...I should have just scratchbuilt her and saved my self the headache.

                        There will be a full build-up article on Modelwarships.com early next week.

                        I'm scratch building a wooden model of a Chesapeake Bay skipjack, an oyster dredge boat. It's based on the Model Shipways plans of the Willie L. Bennett, 3/8" to the foot, backdated a bit to the early 1900's (WLB is circa 1930's). The deck will be mostly unplanked to show the interior and deck framing and the aft cabin is partially roofed over to show a detailed interior. I've built the anchor windlass and am in the process of doing the winch drums and mechanism for the oyster dredges. While the model is wood, the mechanical bits are made up from left over plastic bits and pieces from the spares boxes and Evergreen plastic stock (great stuff, this!). I'm about 2 months into it and I am trying to finish it for a ship model club conference in early May.

                        I snagged up a revell germany 1/400 Typhoonclass last summer.looks like a reissue of the old "red oktober" kit.I'll get started while working on my Sherman and su-122,as i am begining to think that it might be a pleasent diversion from the armor side of the house.Furthermore,I need inspiration to get back into the "Sub Command" campaign game I started about the time I got the kit(THAT p.c game is a challenge!).

                        i just finished the hms tiger and the richelieu.im in the process of building the graf zeppelin then move onto a pbr mk 2.my father served on the pbr mk1, so it will be a small task to transform the mk2 into a mk1.im up to 13 ships sitting waiting to be built.im looking to pass my dads record of 134 ships..im only at 40 or so....have fun!!

                        I am building 2 makes of the HMS Hood. 1/400 Lindberg and a 1/600 Airfix. This is my first model project since I was a kid. The Lindberg has very little detail. I have drilled portholes, doorways and some photo etched details. The Airfix is much more detailed. Next comes painting. I will practice on the Lindberg first and hopefully do better on the Airfix.
