Because there is clearly no way this conversation can avoid going down like a depth-charged sub as the other before it, I am locking it. Please refrain from posting questions about this kit with opening lines referencing past posts about the subject.

I made my first model catalog order from them in 1985, no problems at all in all this time. But then I haven't ordered too much from them lately, either. It's good to know that they are still on the ball.

What war ?  I must have missed out on that since I was busy dealing with facts.  However, I have been sidetracked from the report I am working on since my newest sideline seems to be that I will be playing nurse maid to one of the finest gentleman who has ever walked the face of this man's Earth:

http://www.williamdouglaslansford.com/

It seems he's acquired prostate cancer and I've got to make certain he wins this battle; he's one tough bird and he has a fighting chance.  And anyone who has survived Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima fighting alongside John Basilone has a lot going for them.

But to your questions.  I don't know how the story morphed into 'Lindberg set this kit up for the R/C crowd' but what I got straight from 'Mount Olympus' is that this is not so.  My understanding--at this time (and I don't expect matters to change significantly)--is that the molds will not be, repeat, not be corrected nor will Lindberg be 'taking' kits back.  As a matter of fact, they can't manufacture enough kits for the demand; this kit is a BIG seller.

Now, my recommendations tend other directions.  I am privy to no decisions which Lindberg makes but I will make a number of comments which will be frank, as usual, and no doubt will be rejected, given what I have learned over the past several weeks.

I believe that stance came AFTER the extremely critical reviews of the sub's accuracy came into play...

What I heard last was that they WERE NOT going to "fix" the molds, nor were they going to do anyting for those who bought the kit and were not satisfied (which they really couldn't do if they leave the molds as is---unless they offered to buy the kits back or offer a discount).

I also read that they were taking the position that the sub met the expectations of their target-marketing group, which is RC model builders...
