Perhaps the Imai instructions for rigging were good- but the Monogram revised instruction booklet was awful! I actually used the big Revell instructions- and plastic blocks from that kit as well- to do the brace rigging.

It is really a shame that company is not in business any longer- or someone has not re-released their bigger kits.

thanks for the comments!

Obviously an excellent kit and a mighty handsome finished model!  I'm in awe of the speed with which you finished it.

I gather you pretty much followed the kit instructions regarding the rigging.  What you wound up with is a reasonably accurate setup of the standing rigging and some of the most prominent lines of the running rigging.  Rigging instructions were another of the many strong points in the Imai sailing ship line.  They simplify the rigging sensibly, without turning it into an arbitrary collection of threads - as the old Heller kits frequently did.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

Beautiful! Thumbs Up [tup] Thumbs Up [tup]  IMO the simplified rigging gives it a clean look at this scale, instead of cluttered.Make a Toast [#toast]

Beautiful kit- 29 inches long- 22 inches tall...1979 release. Ship is molded in restored current configuration. Rigging was simplified- I did the best I could ...
