1/350 TAMIYA MISSOURI QUESTION
Posted by wood dale on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 3:31 PM

As I was looking over the parts and doing some dry fitting before starting this kit I noticed a large (about 1/8") gap between the the center deck and the Aft deck sections. I have some ideas on how to fill the gap just looking for other ideas from other modelers.

Thanks ddp56, I did think of that but can not match the planking in the deck.

I have built many plans, trains and autos over the years but this is will be my first large scale ship. Any other products out there that might match ????

I don't think anyone could reasonably make that work, unless it was generally able to be covered by structures. You need to control where you have your issues. An analogy is an airplane model. The most notorious seam is where the top of the wing meets the fuselage. When a bad fit looms, it's easier to glue the top half of each wing securely to the fuse halves, and then deal with the problem out at the wingtips.

Similarily, I'd securely glue all three sections of the deck together, with splice plates and get it good. Then work on fill problems at the stem and stern, where it can be hidden under a rail, or just make the top edge of the hull look a little thicker.

Just myMy 2 cents [2c]

just took another look at the problem, filling in at the stem (bow) will definitely be a lot easier and look better.

Thanks for the help bondoman.
