I used the Fujimi and Trumpeter 1/700 jets and helicopters with that kit. Highly recommended, and you don't notice any scale difference.

One thing to watch out for on that ancient kit, the seam between the upper and lower hull halves can be a ... bear.

I never even many of the planes off the spru for my Enterprise. The F-4B are disgusting. The already mentioned Fijumi 1/700 set is very good. I kitbashed mine into a more modern version, complete with the forward pair of sponsons and removed the dunce cap and billboard radars. Be sure to throw those disgusting fake Terrier launchers in to the trash and replace them with Mk25 launchers from a skywave spare parts set.

Chasing the ultimate build.

They will be slightly overscale, but if you replace the entire aircraft complement and have them all a consistent scale (ie not some in 1/700 and some in 1/720), unless someone gets at them witha pair of calipers, a casual obsever isn't going to noticve much difference.

Keep in mind that the old Revell kit depicts Enterprise in her older configuration with the "beehive" radar array. Any aircraft you add/replace need to be consistent with a time period pre-1979. (ieg. no Hornets, Seahawks etc.)

You would be pretty good with the Trumpeter 1/700 scale sets as they have the F-4J which could also represent a later mod F-4 as well as the A-6 intruder and A-3 aircraft too not to meantion the SH-3 and A-7 and F-8 aircraft but I think the F-8 was phased out by the time Enterprise entered service.

I think Trumpeter should release some F-8's and A-4's

thanks for all advices.  I might will use the F14s since its my all time favorite jet fighter.   I might will make the enterprise late 90s maybe 2000 just before they retire the F14.  so i might will use the hornet/tomcat and not sure what else  (help me out)  and hawkeyes  and maybe the seahawk helios.   let me know which aircrafts and heilos was use in the late 90s to the day they retire the F14.  Thanks

again  let me know abt the Enterprise   what i mean is what they have late 90s to today.  one of you mention the launchers and i have to throw some parts in trash.  I never know what the enterprise have right now since i never been in the navy or miliarty or have pictures of Enterprise. Enterprise is my all time favortie mordern carrier.  The one i have right now might be from the Vietnam era.   stop me if im wrong.

The Enterprise kit made by Revell-Germany that you have depicts the ship "as launched" in 1961. If you want to depict the ship as she appears today some scratchbuilding is in order, as the distinctive "beehive" radar antenna on top of the island has been removed and replaced by the mast, and various radar domes and weapons (CIWS and RAM) have been added.

A good souce for photos of the Big E is Navy News, you can go to the link here: http://www.news.navy.mil/swf/index.asp and then search for photos of the ship going back for many years. I updated the kit to how the ship appeared in 2006, details here: [View:http://home.earthlink.net/~mymodels/enterprise_aircraftcarrier.htm:550:0]

i seem cant get the link from earthlink to see the enterprise.

Scratchbuild? With Stupid , I never tried a scratchbuild before but i can get the picture of what is scratchbuild.  any advice for beginners?   also, can i use spare parts from other kits that is almost similar of what today enterprise looks like today such as mast/radars/ weapons? (i have spare parts from the Regean from italai in 720 scale too, that i dont need it)  Since i was looking at the enterprise homepage and saw the island and looks like i can use the leftover parts from the Regean on the Enterprise's island.  again stop me of im wrong.

One thing, does the F14s was on the enterprise before they remodel the island? just a thought if i dont want to do the scratchbuild.  let me know  thanks.

The Enterprise was the first carrier to deploy with Tomcats in 1974, with VF-1 & VF-2.  The modifications to the island weren't done until 1979.  F-14's in that time frame still had the gull gray & white paint scheme with colorful unit markings.

Sorry about the link, silentmodeler, I havn't mastered the "new and improved" forum yet. Try this:

http://home.earthlink.net/~mymodels/enterprise_aircraftcarrier.htm

What you need to do, if you want to use Tomcats on your Enterprise, and have a reasonably accurate build, is pick a year, then research what the Big E looked like in that year. You can probably use some of the parts from your Ronald Reagan kit - I used life raft canisters from an Italeri Kitty Hawk kit, along with some other bits as described in the page above. Don't get so hung up on getting things exactly frickin' perfect that you forget to have fun, OK?

thanks for the help,  and hints abt the sractchbuild.   wow nice carrier u got on the link.  i was very impressive.  and ur list of what u add/remove was very helpful!! Yes

Ofc im not going to make it so perfect  but close enuff to be perfect.   ill keep on researching on the Enterprise to see what i can do to make it looks modern. Try to make it as much fun i can as i build it.
