Camo for British Ship

Hello All,

I am about to start work on the 1/350 Tamiya King George V. I am looking at different variations in Camoflauge. I like the multicolor pattern. Not sure what it is called exactly, I think Measure 20-something.

Anyway, do you guys have any tips, hints, PICTURES of this scheme? Also, what colors were used. I just seem to be getting a little bored doing the same old grey.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi Bryan,

here's the colour profile for KGV from the recent-ish Airfix re-pop of the Heller 1/400 kit:

You can copy&paste it into a MS Word document or similar and enlarge it, to make it easier to use. The colour call-outs are for Humbrol enamels, but more accurate versions of the colours will be available in the White Ensign Colourcoats enamel range.

Bear in mind that the Tamiya kit shows KGV at a much later stage in her wartime career, with much-improved AAA armament, a different radar and other electronics fit, and the aircraft landed, a boat deck installed where the catapult was, and the hanger converted into a cinema. If you wanted to show KGV at the camouflaged stage in her career, the Tamiya 1/350 Prince of Wales would probably be a better starting point.

Cheers,

Chris.

"Measure" is a USN term and not Royal Navy.
