                        My impression is that the band was yellow ochre through the Tripoli episode but was painted white just before the War of 1812.  It is just an impression.  I could easily be wrong!

                        Has there been a definitive answer as to the color of the band along the gun ports during the War of 1812.  White or Yellow Ochre?
