More problems fully rigging the Revell Kearsarge. Anyone done it?
I just had to move the cable stay large eyebolts at the base of the mainmast aft 1/4" to keep them from hitting the belaying pins on the pin rack. This was easy because I just used a hot safety pinpoint to make a new hole and filled in the old one, but it raises the issue of rigging this ship. Looking at the yards there are many problems as to what is going on and how to attach blocks for example. Any one worked out all the problems? I've already posted how I did ratlines. They look pretty good to me but now I wonder what other modelers say?
Example of another problem: The upper blocks on the lift tackle for the main yardarms interfere with the ratlines above the platforms so I used the rings on the fronts of the upper boom/yardarm to rig the intended pulley action. This might prove temporary as I get more informantion, but it has me wondering if anyone else has worked out these problems. I think Revell Germany was thinking "Oktoberfest/beer" when they were at this stage. "Over budget already???" I don't remember these kind of problems with the Cutty Sark.
