my 700 scale battleship row
Posted by uglygoat on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 4:30 PM

none are finished.  i've been fiddling around with 700 scale for about two years.  i've just built these up out of the box, focusing on building this scale cleanly.  they are all hand painted with acrylics. i can't really build up a huge stock pile, so i've been building kits in stages.

some smaller vessels, same story, nothing is finished.

What work you do have is quite nice.  I don't recognize any ship in particular.  Which kits are these??

Thanks.  I recognized the Yamato and the Bismarck but not the others.  How is that I-58?  I've been considering it as a companion from my Indy.

it's a good little kit. clean lines, and easy to build and can easily be upgraded with pe.  it comes with the i16.  they are both waterline.

edit:  next time it's sunny i'll try and put the fleet in the garage, and get some shots without the flash.

It appears this is a re-creation of Halsey's Third Fleet, in quantity, if not in actuality!  That is a LOT of work, sir!  My hat is off to you! Toast

And hat's off to the OP for his beautiful start!  Keep up the good work!  I look forward to seeing more. YesYes

That is a very impressive collection ! What is the story behind the B-24 you have parked on the deck of the Hornet in the first photo?

Don't mean to high-jack but when it comes to paint and 1/700 scale, it seems that Model Master  Intermidiate Blue is correct for measure 21 verticle surfaces (measure 22 graduated).  At the 1/700 scale the H-20 of the horizontal surfaces cannot be distiguished from the N-5 of the verticle measure 21.

Am I wrong?

that is a sweet collection of ships!  thanks for sharing.  the b-24 came in a tamiya gato submarine set, along with a japanse patrol vessel.  it was a nice kit that gave you two of each, so i got two subs, two patrol boats, and two bombers.  the deck is just being used to hold assorted planes, including floats from some of the other models until i get catapults built.  i'm really slow and scatterbrained when it comes to the hobby.
