Anybody got any ship related goodies from St. Nick?

I keep telling the family what models I don't have and every years I get the sames ones  = NONE. so I feel good to treat myself to something.  Anybody get ship related goodies? Books, Models tools etc? Or even time to model?

Jake,

I got Anderson's The Rigging of Ships in the Days of the Spritsail Topmast.  I also got a gift certificate from my favorite local hobby shop.

This year was rather sparce.  I usually get several kits and PE sets but everyone is telling me to wait for my birthday in February.

The closest thing that I got was a book by Michael Crichton called the Pirate Latitudes…. Although I really need to spend some time at the bench. It’s been almost 3 weeks since I touched the planking on my current build.

Does the WSP10 from BILLINGS qualify?? That and a didital caliper for my modeling shop. I really wanted the PATRICK O,BRIAN series of the AUBRY/MATURIN sagas. I have recently acquired the H.M.S. SURPRISE. The ship will be built way down the line. Other than that does anyone really want a 1/1250 model of the QM 2?? I got one of them too.     tankerbuilder

Shipwise, I got Academy's 1/800 Eisenhower. Good basic kit, that with some patient detailing looks like it will build up nicely. The parts are flash and sink-hole free, and the aircraft complement is just enough to make the deck look busy, but not cluttered.

My other Santa goodies were two winged things, one of which I am going to build in the 2010 Phantom group build.

I sort of bought it for myself but I picked up the Dragon 1:700 Laffey set.  It includes parts for two complete ships, one waterline and the other full hull.  Detail is excellent but I couldn't leave well enough alone and purchased White Ensign Models PE 754 Benson/Gleaves class photoetch set to trick it out.  I also have some left over Lionroar photoetch 20mm's that I'll add in.

This is a very unique little kit and extremely well done on its own.

I scored big........and I mean big.

A Revell 1/72 USS Gato and a Minicraft 1/350 Titanic.  Now......just got to build a 1/1 scale attachment to my display room!

RodC,

If it's a new Titanic, look in the instruction booklet I think page 2 or so and read it.  It took me and several other modelers most of a year to help them fix mistakes in the older mold.  It was a fun project adn I was honored to have them thanks us n writing - cool.
