According to Rajen's Ship List, it is 1:500 scale,  one of the few box-scale kits which scaled out evenly

The most complete set in that scale would probably be from Gold Medal Models

Toms Modelworks also sells railing sets in that scale,  but their battleship & cruiser set doesn't look to be very applicable

if  17" long then 1/475 scale, if 16" long then 1/500 scale.

I'm building an old Monogram kit, the USS Chicago. Yeah, I know it's not one of the greatest; but it's more for nostalgia's stake. And it is an interesting topic. While building, I was thinking I may be able to spruce it up a little with some PE railings and stuff. Does anyone know what scale might be close enough to try? It's one of those infamous "box scale" kits!
