Good day everyone!

I would like to build a model of this ship for a friend of mine who served on her from 75 to 77. Can anyone recommened a good starting point? I would like it in 1/350th if at all possible.

Many thanks in advance!!

Nothing in 1:350 scale

Your best bet may be the Italieri offering in 1:720 scale (close enough to 1:700 that airwing & details interchange)

And not to forget Fujimi 1/700 CV series too.

Mustang, you might want to try using Trumpeter's 1/700 aircraft.  They have aircraft that would fit the time period.  The Italeri USS America doesn't appear to have many planes and some of them are F/A-18's which couldn't work for mid to late 70's.

The Italeri 1/720 USS America has poor aircraft and decals. In the second half of the 1970s the Americas airwing flew the F-14A, A-7E, A-6E, E-2C, RF-8G, S-3A, and SH-3H. Fijumi makes a good set of 1/700 scale aircraft for the 1960s and 1990s. The decals are so so, if you want you can get an aftermarket set from Starfighter Decals.

Chasing the ultimate build.
