Lightship Nantucket

Has anyone built the Lightship Nantucket from Lindberg? The kit looks nice; but I haven't test fit it yet. I was thinking of lighting it using LEDs. Also, what color is "Spar" and how do I find/ mix it?

I built the kit about 15 years ago-- fit was reasonable, as I recall.  I recently picked up the latest re-release of the kit--  but I havent' done anything with it yet.

Spar is a tan color with maybe a yellowish tinge.    IIRC,  the Testors square bottle "wood tan" was a pretty close match.

I think the kit would make a nice lighted model.  You can find little electronics kits online to add a flasher for the light.

I was originally thinking about building this kit as a little RC model,  but now I'm leaning more towards a 1/48 scale model based on the Microglass fiberglass hull.

The closest match is Badger Modelflex Marine Colors Deck Tan 16-405.  The actual FS 595 color match is 10371.  The color Spar was known as Straw Color in the 1920's.

Built the kit several years ago.  Rebuilt and repaired it recently.  Nice kit.  Fit is not bad but you have to lose the flags. Way too thick.  Never thaought of lighting it - I may have to redo it.  Post pix of your finished product.
