i've got an old friend who served on a tench class sub ss-483, uss sea leopard.  is there a kit or conversion in any scale?  i really would like to find this and build it for him.  thanks in advance. :)

No kit, but you may look at the conversion sets from Iron Bottom Sound for a Fleet Snorkel/Guppy mod

thanks mate, forgot about iron bottom sound.  he's got a conversion for the very boat i'm looking for.  course it costs almost three times the kit, but considering it's the only game in town, and i've no scratch building skills...

my friend will be pleased, i'm assuming no issues with ibs?

Like you say .. "only game in town".    From some photos of IBS items I've seen they look a bit rough.

i was wondering how hard it would be to slap a custom built sail on a 700 balo by hobbyboss... :)

edit: on the other hand, sixty bucks spent is worth it to see the old man smile, especially in a scale he can see.  Yes

They might seem a bit rough, but when you get them, they are well packaged, Mr Grima puts very specific parts in for you depending on which boat you are building, and being that it is resin, a little extra work has to go into it anyway.  I am not the best modeler in the world, but I build alot, and I have purchased around five different sets from him, in 1/144, 1/72 and 1/178.  The customer service is OUTSTANDING. He is very helpful about getting you exactly what you need, even depending on what year you are modeling your boat after.

LOL I dont want to sound like I am preaching or advertising, but I highly recommend IBS.
