Looking for aftermarket 1/125 gun barrels.
Posted by PipePlayer on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 7:17 PM

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a set of turned-brass barrels for the 5"/38 guns on the 1/125 Lindberg Blue Devil destroyer....(I know....I'm a glutton for punishment....).  I heard of a company years ago that used to sell a set of gun barrels but don't know if they're still in business.

Does anybody know if anyone currently sells these gun barrels.....and any other aftermarket items that will work with this kit????

Thanks!!

Vic

No response since you posted so you may have a pretty good idea that turned barrels for the Lindberg Blue Devil don't exist.

However ...

Dreadnought Models used to make a set of resin replacement 5-inch gunhouses and a MK37 director.

I don't know if they are still in business.   Contact them and check availability

Tom's Modelworks makes a PE set in 1:125 for the Lindberg kit.   Parts may also be used on the minesweeper

The secondary & tertiary guns are more problematical.   About your only game in town is HR Products white metal.   The mold is old and worn and their products are VERY rough.   Availability is also spotty.   You may be better off scratchbuilding your own

Here's an article that I found, well, entertaining...

There's all-in-one-box, complete and pretty accurate (compared) set of parts labeled "Fletcher Class" in 1/144 by Revell, but that wouldn't be as fun.

Yeah, that's part of Jeff Herne's construction article on the Lindberg kit titled "Trial by Ordeal".

The title gives you an idea of what may be in store for you should you attempt to correct the Lindberg Blue Devil
