BlueJacket Constitution model ?
Posted by 1SG Davis on Sunday, April 11, 2010 6:18 PM

I'm cleaning the closet in my hobby room and have moved for the 1000th time a wood model kit of the USS Constitution given to me as a birthday gift over 30 years ago.  I will never build this kit.  I know I can't sell it here, I'm just looking for some advice as to the best way to find this kit a new home.  I'd rather not use e-bay, I'd more comfortable if the  person who buys it looks at it first.  I've done a little internet reseach on the BlueJacket web site and see that these sell today for $550.00 ish.  Would a kit 30+ years old be worth less or more compared to a kit today?  It appears to be complete, even coming with a little piece from the 1/1 scale ship to add to the model.  Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary / CSM

The seaways Yahoo mailing list is a good model ship resource, and folks occasionally sell their surplus kits there. It is primarily for wooden ship models, so the Blue Jacket kit is appropriate there.  Go to the Yahoo Groups search engine and try both "model shipbuilding" and seaway.

You could also try modelshipworld.com. There is a classified section there.
