U.S.S. Guadalcanal (LPH-7)

I know this kit was put out by Auora in the 70s as I had it when I was little. I was stationed on it from 1989-1992. I've been looking for this kit ever since, no luck. I saw that Blue Water Navy has an LPH (3?) out but it is configured diffrently with the B&A crane on the starbord side, aft end of the ship. Would it be possible to convert it to the Guadalcanal ? Or easier to find an old Auora kit ? Thanks ! Steve

I too was on the Guad (1981-1984). I've been looking for a kit myself. I've not seen the BWN kit anywhere. Where did you see it? I'll modify if I have too. I was hoping to get it in 1/350 though.

There are two LPH models avialable. Both are from Pacific Front. The USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2) and USS Okinawa (LPH-3). I'm sure you could build the Guad out of the Iwo. They're 1/700 scale. Both are $72. If you go to Model Warships.com you can view the Iwo a guy built: http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/am/iwo-jima/700-pvb/iwojima-index.html
Hope this helps. Steve

Those are Pit-Road/Hi-mold kits...very nice kits but a tad small. I have a scratchbuilt USS Nassau (LHA-4) in 1/350 that got mangled a few years back, maybe I should try to rebuild her...now that there's more 1/350 modern a/c available.
