1/700 Imperial Japan Navy Light Cruiser Agano( completed)

that looks great harshman!  i worked on mine for two days, and didn't get nearly as far as you.  it's now in moth balls till the fall/winter.

Thanks Tim, actually I took a half day leave from work to work on it since its summer period with little activities in office.

Old tamiya kit is alway nice and easy to work with.

For two days' work, she came up very nicely.

I did one of these (badly) back int he 80's.

I like the lines of this class, very elegant - it doesn't have that typical Japanese "top-heavy" look.

I get stuck at certain places in my 1:700 builds - one of them is final detailing, from rigging to planes.  Have not yet gotten the IJN aircraft colors (greens or grays) how I'd like them.  Are you custom mixing colors for your planes, or what brand are you using out of the box.

Very nice...may want to try thinner rigging next time...

I used Tamiya Nato Green for the floatplane.  This light cruiser has much lesser detail and super structure. So easier to work with. If you are just beginning, I suggest you try out some less complicated ship like this Agano before moving on the more extensive and complicated one.

You can try out carrier too. They are less work for rigging... Only that you need to spend more time on airplane.

I use a brown wash first follow by another red earth pigment dry brushing. Then finally another dry brushing using carbon black powder on the deck detail to bring out the highlight..
